The question of wearing foundation every day has been on the lips of so many for so long, and today I would love to give answers with all honesty.
Yes! You can wear foundation every day. Most people think wearing a foundation is only for special occasions, but that isn’t the case anymore. There are no side effects to wearing foundation every day, and no, your skin tone isn’t going to change. Before we go in-depth, let’s find out a few things first.
WHAT IS FOUNDATION?
Foundation is a liquid or powder makeup applied to the face for an even, uniform complexion. It covers flaws, blemishes, and is sometimes used to change the natural skin tone.
You must have read or heard that makeup, especially foundation, is terrible for your skin. Your skin needs to breathe, it clogs your skin and all that, but gone are those days.
My unpopular opinion remains; you can wear foundation every day. Whether you are shopping at the supermarkets, going to a restaurant, running errands, or visiting a friend, you can apply some foundation. You could choose to go light, medium, or heavy. It all depends on the occasion.
Although you are free to wear your foundation every day, there are things to consider first:
Consistency of the foundation: For everyday usage, you may want to get a foundation that has a light to medium coverage, all depending on the occasion. Heavy coverage may not be necessary for a quick stop at the supermarket. You can get a foundation that provides heavy coverage if you have a total makeover or have very dark blemishes.
Sometimes, it gets very uncomfortable when you have a full makeup face when the weather is scorching. It can feel like your face is melting at times like these. You may need to go light on the foundation, especially if you aren’t using any other products like primer and sweat stopper– which holds your makeup together beneath your foundation.
Other makeup products: Wheather or not you apply other products like concealer and the likes also influence the amount of foundation you can have on. If your concealer covers most of your blemishes, then you may not need a heavy coat of foundation.
Skin sensitivity: If you have susceptible skin, you might want to ease up on wearing foundation every day. Get a foundation that does not irritate your skin and have a test run for a few days. If you don’t have any breakouts or reactions, then you are good to go. But if you notice any outbreaks, rash, or discoloration, then stop immediately.
Other than these factors, it is perfectly acceptable to wear foundation every day of the week.
WHY YOU SHOULD WEAR FOUNDATION EVERY DAY
There are benefits when you wear foundation every day. Some of these include:
It serves as extra protection: Most of us don’t use the recommended amount of sunscreen needed for a day. Some of us don’t even know what sunscreen is. But applying foundation will form a protective barrier against harmful UV-rays. Now, we know that the sun’s UV-rays are the number one cause of aging skin. So the foundation acts as an insurance policy to ensure your skin is protected. It is essential to go for products that contain SPF in them. These enriched products give your skin extra reinforcements against harsh rays and particles found in the air.
It serves as an additional layer of protection to keep out pollution and other environmental stressors. A full-coverage foundation is recommended.
The right foundation for different skin types
Moisturizing liquid for dry and matured skin
Powdered for combination and natural skin
Oil-free liquid for oily and acne-prone skin
As long as you use the right foundation for your skin, it won’t clog your pores. Also, your skin does not act as your lungs, so don’t worry about it breathing or not.
Never let your skin be bare. Wear foundation every day for that extra glow.
NOTE: Never replace your daily sunscreen and moisturizer with foundation. You must apply them before your foundation for extra hydration and moisture.
