Wrinkles are natural signs of aging that appear on soft surfaces such as the skin or fabrics. On the skin, it’s most likely to appear on the face, hand, neck, and forearm.
Causes of Wrinkles on Skin
The common cause of wrinkles is as a result of the aging process. Sometimes premature aging is caused by stress and other factors. Wrinkles can also be caused by smoking, repeated scrunched up facial expressions, and constant sun exposure. Other causes include:
Glycation: This is when sugar in the body attaches to protein to form harmful new molecules in the bloodstream. This chemical process can make your skin dull and wrinkled.
How it causes aging: The proteins that can make a youth complexion plump and glow are also the same protein that is most likely to be affected by glycation. These proteins are collagen and elastin. When these proteins meet with renegade sugars, they become colorless, weak, and less supple; this shows up on the skin’s surface as wrinkles, sagginess, and radiance loss.
Cure: I don’t think there is any cure to glycation but the following steps might help reduce it.
• Sleep more.
• Rest a little more, no matter how busy you are
• Less sugar: Glycation is mostly caused by fructose than glucose so watch the fruits you take
• Reduce junk…
As mentioned earlier, other causes of wrinkles includes:
Sun Damage
Wrong sleeping position
Loss of body mass
Smoking
Repeating same facial expressions
How to get rid of wrinkles
Drink lots of Water: Try to drink two litres of water per day– as recommended by health practitioners.
Reduce stress: Cut down your workload and reduce stress .
Eat well: eat food with enough antioxidants. Antioxidants protects your skin from from radicals
Quit smoking: Not only does it affect your skin it does same to your organs
Avoid staying under the sun for too long: At every cost, stay out of excessive sun exposure if you desire a wrinkle-free skin. Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes, use caps/hats to cover your face. Also, you can wear long sleeves and never forget to use your sunscreen and moisturizer. Make sure your makeup products also contain SPF for better protection. Always seek a shade to hide from the sun.
Using anti-aging and wrinkles cream will also help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, both during the day and at night.
